Maria Barrera, B.A., M.A.O.M., L.Ac. is a Licensed Acupuncturists in the State of California. She received her Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Southern California University of Health Sciences. As a student, she participated in a 6-month internship at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) in which she shadowed one of the leading acupuncturist in pediatric care of Southern California. As such, she has experience with providing pediatric care to children with physical pain, delayed development and/or chronic illnesses. The modalities she implements in pediatric care are massage, moxabustion, and cupping. Moreover, as primary care physician, she specializes in women's issues, such as regulating menstruation, alleviating premenstrual symptoms, post partum care, to name a few. In addition, she has treated a vast array of physical ailments such as sciatica, low back pain, chronic migraines, depression, anxiety. Acupuncturist Maria has experience using all modalities that encompass Traditional Chinese Medicine such as cupping, moxabustion, massage techniques, nutritional advice, Tai Qi (healing through body movement) and lifestyle modifications. Acupuncturist Maria approaches the patient with the analysis that body, mind and spirit are inextricable—if one is off balanced, all must be balanced. She believes Traditional Chinese Medicine offers preventive care and holistic health for everyone.
